English: A diaphragm is a hormone-free barrier method and usually made of silicone. It’s shaped like a dome and is inserted into the vagina before intercourse with diaphragm lube or spermicide gel. When you insert the diaphragm, it should be folded and inserted like a tampon. Depending on the size of the diaphragm, it should either cover the tip of the cervix, or the tip plus a bit more. When inserted correctly, you should not be able to feel or notice the diaphragm. After intercourse, you leave the diaphragm inserted for at least six hours and then remove it.
You can buy a diaphragm on the internet and if you want more information, you can turn to a Youth Guidance Centre (ungdomsmottagning in Swedish), a Sesam centre, a midwifery centre or a gynecology clinic.
