English: A condom is a non-hormonal barrier contraceptive that’s usually made from latex. Condoms are also available in plastic, synthetic latex and synthetic resin. A condom prevents unwanted pregnancies by not letting sperm into the uterus. It also protects from sexually transmitted infections (STIs), which is one of the reasons why it’s good to use during sex. A condom is rolled on a dick, a hand, or on a sex toy before sex and can be used during all kinds of sex where body fluids and/or mucous membranes are involved. The same condom should only be used once.
Condoms are available in many different flavors, shapes, sizes and textures. There are condoms with lube, cooling effects, warming effects, without lube, and other intensifying qualities. This is to make sure that there’s a condom that fits everyone’s needs. Try as many as you want, smell them, feel them and taste them! That way, you’ll most likely find a condom that’s right for you. Supermarkets often have a limited variety of condoms, but in sex shops, on the internet, in pharmacies and in our office you’ll find a bigger assortment. Condoms can also be found at petrol stations, Youth Guidance Centres, midwifery centres, etc. At the Uppsala Student Union you’ll find free condoms at your disposal.
For more information about available varieties of condoms, keep an eye out during student events on campuses, nation pubs and -clubs, or show up at our office in the Student Union building.
