English: Herpes’ a virus that can cause blisters and wounds in the genital area. It’s mostly transmitted via unprotected sex, but can also be passed on through close contact, such as rubbing against infected areas. Herpes is a common virus and doesn’t always break out in blisters and wounds, but if you do get it, you’ll have it for the rest of your life. Medicine’s normally not needed since the herpes blisters can heal by themselves. If you’re suffering a lot from the outbreaks, there’s pain relief available at pharmacies. If you experience symptoms often (every two months or more), you should contact a health care clinic for further help.Reviewed by Mats Ericsson, infectious disease physician, Uppsala County Council.
